BUYING ADVICE AND GUIDENCE
"POINT OF LAY" is 16 weeks , this doesn't mean that you will get eggs the next day, its a term that describes the point in time whereby you can expect eggs within 3 weeks in set environmental conditions (temp, daylight hours etc) In real life first eggs (the small pullet eggs) appear from about 19 weeks , later in the Winter.
We sell birds at all ages as the ducks and heavy layers are all sexed at hatch , taking on on young stock is very rewarding and lots of fun, however most skip the cost of brooding by buying from 7-8 weeks old ; at this age they are fully feathered and don't need to be kept indoors. They are still small to handle and just "mini chickens" you would simply buy a bag of growers pellet from our shop, picking up layers pellets from your local stockist when they run out. NEVER dilute growers or layers nutrition with grit, and don't mix young growers with a mature flock - see our page on "basics on birds" for more information
The breeds listed below will appear similar to other hens on the market, the actual crosses (hybrids) are generic, however its the superior strains / bloodlines that are unique in Wales to Welshpoultry hence the localised names of the grower.
